GED
(120 hrs)
The goal of the program is to train students to take the G.E.D. test in order to acquire their high school equivalency degree. The instruction is offered either in English or Spanish language. The complete program is delivered in 60 classes of two hours each or in 30 Saturdays of four hours each. The instruction is provided in classroom setting by teachers in a maximum 25:1 student-teacher ratio. The textbook utilized is the GED Manual by McGraw-Hill and other teacher generated material. The curriculum includes mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, and reading. The students take a pre-test on each subject in order to apply the instruction to the student’s needs. A post-test at the end of the course in every subject determines the readiness of the student to take the final test. If found not ready, the student will be encouraged to take extra lessons on specific areas of need. Extra instructional time is offered to students failing sections of the test in the specific area.
